If the meter is not full, you lose some life depending on how full the gauge was (completely empty special meter = very large life penalty). If the meter is full, you execute the special without losing any life. With SOR3 type meter, using any kind of special will drain the attack meter in the center of the HUD. With SOR2 type meter, offensive specials will always drain a little bit of your life bar, and defensive specials will only drain life if they make contact with an enemy. These moves come at a cost, which changes depending on how your meter is set up. Some characters have new offensive specials that can be executed during a dash. Pressing forward+A executes an offensive special, which are usually far more powerful but have less invincibility and only hit in front. This is your best option for getting enemies off of you in a pinch, like when you're being hit from both sides or stuck in a headlock or combo that you can't normally escape. Pressing A with no accompanying direction executes a defensive special, which usually have a lot of invincibility and hit on both sides. You can combo attacks together more easily if you set this option to SOR3 delay and select SOR2 version characters.

By default, this option is set to COMBINED, in which case your character's moves will have the delay of their original game (SOR2 delay for SOR2 version characters, etc). SOR3 characters tend to have attacks that have shorter recovery but also inflict less stun on the opponent. SOR2 characters tend to have attacks that have a lot of recovery but also inflict a long amount of stun on the opponent. Pause Delay - Adjusts the recovery time of your character's moves. I'd still recommend turning this OFF just to be able to dash in vertical directions though. This allows you to grab > attack > dash in and grab again against enemies who don't attack quickly after they recover. If you grab and attack an enemy and another enemy happens to walk into your attack, the first enemy will be released from your grab but still get hit. It also changes the way enemies behave when grabbed. SOR3 Exceptions - Turning this ON prevents you from running diagonally and allows some versions of characters to change their direction during a combo. Check that for more general info that isn't posted here.ĭamage Between Players - Disabling this prevents (most) of your attacks from harming your teammate and vice versa, but it also disables the use of team vault attacks because you can no longer grab each other. I'm only going over stuff that isn't really explained in the manual.

I've spent all my free time this week on this game, lol.Īnyone feel like sharing gameplay pointers or preferred ways to play? I want to take the time to go over some of the options in more detail than provided by the game's manual as well as cover some gameplay bases that might be unfamiliar to people who didn't play the originals. And the guys on BennuGD forum compiled Raspberry Pi binaries themselves not so long ago, so you guys could ask them if they can compile those binaries on Switch (or at least provide instructions for other people do that task). Finally finished a Mania mode playthrough and am uploading it to Youtube. Last but not least, it's fine to see that SORR can run through virtual machines, however I still think the ideal solution would be by having BennuGD Interpreter binaries for Switch so it could be ran natively on the device. Probably your controllers needs to be configured in your Ubuntu VMs in order to work.

By default, SORR automatically detects any joysticks and gamepads plugged on your system, so if it's not working, then that means there's no joystick on your Ubuntu VM, or there's multiple controllers (more than 3), and only the first two are accepted by SORR (the others being ignored). This link has a workaround that can help you: Ībout the gamepad issue, I don't think it's somehow related to RetroPie. About the fullscreen issue, RetroPie on Raspberry Pi 4 devices changed the way it resizes windows, so unfortunately the only way of running apps such as SORR in fullscreen is by reducing RetroPie resolution to the one used by the app (in the case of SORR, it's 640x480 IIRC).
